Disembodied Adventure Headlander Gets Release Date

Double Fine’s Next Title Coming July 26th

The next adventure from the delightfully quirky folks at Double Fine is set to drop towards the end of this month, and it looks to continue the creativity we expect from Tim Schafer and his crew. Headlander looks like one seriously strange title, but if that’s your thing, then read on!

The folks behind Brutal Legend, Psychonauts and Grim Fandango bring us one strange journey where we take control of a disembodied head that can take control over headless bodies in order to use them to solve all sorts of scenarios.

Headlander

Headlander has a unique visual flair, and is set in a time in which humanity has evolved to the point that they transferred their minds to metallic forms, rendering them free from diseases and that troublesome thing known as mortality. It’s not as good as it sounds though, as the general populace in Headlander is enslaved by one seriously psychotic artificial intelligence. Double Fine is known for titles that feel original, so it’s nice to see them maintain that trend.

Taking on your role as a head without a home, you’ll eventually defeat this AI, but you’ll need a hand with this huge task, making use of all sorts of abilities to conquer the game. Between this fresh concept, and the typical off-the-wall humor that we have come to expect from Double Fine, Headlander is looking to be strange in every sense of the word, but it’s really not so when you consider this is the same company that created a real-time strategy/adventure game in a heavy-metal inspired universe.

Headlander is slotted to release on PS4 and PC on July 26th, and if you’ve been craving something that has a fresh concept, then you might do well to check this title out when it comes out in the next few weeks.
