PSVR Launch Title Tethered Announced

New Strategy VR Title Tethered Set To Launch Alongside of Playstation VR

Secret Sorcery announced today that they have a new title in the works, and it is going to be available for the Playstation VR headset at launch, adding to a growing roster of choices for potential buyers. Tethered looks rather similar in design to Pikmin, having the player raise a tiny village of blue creatures called Peeps. You won’t have much time, but with careful planning, you’ll be able to build a settlement that weathers the ravenous fiends of night time.

You take the role of the Spirit Guardian, making use of valuable Spirit Energy to help survive. Each night will leave your forces ravaged (provided you didn’t plan effectively), and you’ll be given another day to try and rebuild to weather even more sinister creatures. It’s a simple concept on paper, but effective when pulled off properly, and Secret Sorcery has a fair bit of experience between themselves. The studio was formed out of a marriage of Evolution Studios and Rage. Evolution Studios has previous experience with titles such as Motorstorm and Driveclub, so you know that Tethered is going to be a visual treat.

The devs have even confirmed this themselves, noting that the audio and visual components of the game are a key focus. Secret Sorcery has even enlisted the skills of Kenny Young, who has contributed to LittleBigPlanet, and the adorable Tearaway. The team at Secret Sorcery has set out to create an immersive experience, and the between some serious talent on the audio side of things, and their pre-existing knack for all things graphical (DriveClub was pretty damn easy on the eyes, after all.), it should be a title that really sucks the player in.

Tethered and the folks at Secret Sorcery are planning to be at E3, and you can bet we will try and get some quality time with the title. In the meantime, you can peep the announcement trailer below. Tethered is expected to launch this Autumn, alongside the PSVR headset.
