It is already known that BioShock designer Ken Levine has been working on a mysterious upcoming game. But now comes word from The Wrap that Levine is reportedly writing and directing the pilot for a new version of the classic sci-fi anthology show The Twilight Zone. Plus, it will be a mix of traditional TV and gaming.
CBS, which holds the rights to the original show, has apparently reached a deal with digital media company Interlude. The project will incorporate audience choice into the show’s format. The Wrap’s article describes it thusly: “an ‘original interactive project’ that will let viewers ‘step in and become a part of the story’ … [and] sew together live-action storytelling with opportunities for the viewer to choose the direction of the narrative.”
According to the article, the new TV series will “honor” the original series, but will obviously be quite different as well, offering the viewer the chance to  “change and adapt the story based on what he or she feels.” Apparently, viewers will also be able to go back and re-watch episodes to see what their different choices would have led to. Kind of like we used to check every option in a Choose Your Own Adventure book back in the day.
The Twilight Zone originally ran in the 1950s and 60s, and is considered one of TV’s greatest shows. It was hosted by Rod Serling. Later, new versions of the show were attempted in the 1980s and 2000s.
