Twilight Zone is Back? Ken Levine Working on New TV Show-Game Hybrid

It is already known that BioShock designer Ken Levine has been working on a mysterious upcoming game. But now comes word from The Wrap that Levine is reportedly writing and directing the pilot for a new version of the classic sci-fi anthology show The Twilight Zone. Plus, it will be a mix of traditional TV and gaming.

CBS, which holds the rights to the original show, has apparently reached a deal with digital media company Interlude. The project will incorporate audience choice into the showโ€™s format. The Wrapโ€™s article describes it thusly: โ€œan โ€˜original interactive projectโ€™ that will let viewers โ€˜step in and become a part of the storyโ€™ โ€ฆ [and] sew together live-action storytelling with opportunities for the viewer to choose the direction of the narrative.โ€

According to the article, the new TV series will โ€œhonorโ€ the original series, but will obviously be quite different as well, offering the viewer the chance to  โ€œchange and adapt the story based on what he or she feels.โ€ Apparently, viewers will also be able to go back and re-watch episodes to see what their different choices would have led to. Kind of like we used to check every option in a Choose Your Own Adventure book back in the day.

The Twilight Zone originally ran in the 1950s and 60s, and is considered one of TVโ€™s greatest shows. It was hosted by Rod Serling. Later, new versions of the show were attempted in the 1980s and 2000s.
