Top 5 Video Game Releases to Watch in January 2017

Here we are fellow gamers! A new year and a fresh start for compiling your Game of the Year awards candidates for 2017. Last month we saw 2016 close off with a bang with three anticipated titles hitting retail. The extreme sports action of Steep, the zombie slaying action of Dead Rising 4 and the highly anticipated release of The Last Guardian made December a strong month. Now, moving into January, we hit a bit of a lull when it comes to video game releases. There are still some strong games on the horizon but it’s always a bit harder coming up with this list during the first month of the year. Have no fear though, gamers! If you’re already cleared up your Christmas haul of games then here’s five of the best games you can look forward to this month.

Yakuza 0

Conan Exiles – Funcom – PC Early Access (Jan 31)

First up we’ve got the comeback of everyone’s favorite barbarian, Conan! Conan Exiles is an open-world survival game rife with violence and brutal enemies. Start with nothing but your bare hands and forge the legacy of your clan, from simple tools and weapons to gigantic fortresses and entire cities. Enslave the bandits of the exiled lands to do your bidding by breaking them on the grueling Wheel of Pain. Sacrifice the beating hearts of your enemies on the blood-soiled altars of your god to seize true power and glory. Summon the colossal avatar of your god and see them lay waste to your enemies and their homes. While this isn’t a full release you can jump into Early Access on Jan 31.

And the award for ‘Biggest Mouthful of the Month’ goes to Kingdom Hearts! The other, Kingdom Hearts 0.2: Birth by Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage, is an all-new game that takes place after the events of Birth by Sleep from the perspective of Aqua.
