Top 5 Reasons to Check Out SOS: The Ultimate Escape

Hey, have you ever dreamed of starring in a reality show where you slaughter the opposition, steal ancient relics, and escape on a helicopter? No? Me neither. However, if you do possess a desire of entering the limelight of internet fame and fortune you’re in luck, as SOS: The Ultimate Escape from Outpost Games is officially in Early Access on Steam. I recently went hands-on with the game and had an absolute blast in doing so. If you’re aware of the game’s existence and are on edge on whether or not to jump in, I’ve compiled a list of the top five reasons you should check it out.

5. Encouraged Creativity

Who are you? Who are you REALLY? In SOS, that’s entirely up to you to decide. Choose one of twelve diverse avatars, customize his or her appearance, and provide them with the voice of your choosing. SOS thrives in its user generated creativity, and your own voice is the driving force behind it all. For example, I spent several matches playing many different avatars but discovered my footing in one with a beer belly sporting a bucket hat, socks, and sandals. Something deep within me determined that he possessed the voice of Paddington Bear, so, that’s exactly who I decided to be. Whether devouring papayas, throwing tomahawks, or outrunning venomous mosquitos, I was Paddington through it all. I even encountered a gal who considered herself to be Harley Quinn. Whether you decide to be a version of yourself or a random character, SOS encourages and rewards you for doing so.

4. Fun PvPvE

I’ll be honest, any sort of deranged creature chasing after me in a video game makes me uneasy, and that’s exactly what I experienced in SOS. On the island of La Cuna, bizarre monkey-like creatures inhabit the environment and will pursue you with relentless ferocity if you’re spotted. They come in various shades and sizes, and both characteristics determine their strength. Naturally, the deadliest of the beasts are in possession of the ancient relics required to escape the island. Whether encountering them alone or with a group of allies, the battles are intense. Some of the most riveting duels occur when two opposing squads fight over the beast to acquire its relic. On countless occasions, the creature would slay more than one player. Meanwhile, others would shoot, stab, and bash each other in the process. Whether its purely PvE, PvP, or a combination of the two, every combat scenario makes for some hilarious and memorable moments. The best multiplayer experiences make for great stories, and I can assure you that you’ll have a tale or two to tell upon concluding a match of SOS.
