Yes, They’re Making a Fruit Ninja Movie

The Fruit Ninja Movie will apparently be a “family-friendly comedy”

With the Angry Birds Movie now out in theatres, and a Temple Run film on the way, the mind wanders, thinking of what other video games could be made into movies. One game that would probably be very near the bottom of that list is Fruit Ninja, right? Well, not so fast – because a Fruit Ninja Movie is apparently in the works. So, yeah.

Nothing against the game itself – it has been downloaded over a billion times, after all, and (if we are being honest) is certainly addictive. But it remains to be seen how the filmmakers (Tripp Vinson is set to helm the project) plan to fill out a 90 minute film based on its scant source material. But writers J.P. Alvin and Chad Damiani, whose previous work is How to Survive a Garden Gnome Attack, are undoubtedly up to the task.

The Fruit Ninja Movie will apparently be a “family-friendly” live action comedy. No word yet on a cast, but may we suggest Morgan Freeman? His paternal manner and easy, deep drawl lend a palpable gravitas that this project will surely need. Although, he lacks the experience with harnesses and green screens that might be called for, in the fruit-slicing action montages. For these parts, perhaps Jackie Chan or Keanu Reeves can lend some training assistance.
