Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare – 9 Minutes of the New Defender Mode

Infinite Warfare’s Defender Mode in Action

Infinite Warfare’s multiplayer clearly takes ‘if it ain’t broke the don’t fix’ approach this time around. This being said, there is a new Defender mode which can be seen in the video below. In the video, we play a full multiplayer game of CoD’s new Defender mode and despite not being the best CoD player around, not by a long shot, we managed to come out on top this round. This was played at a Infinite Warfare review event in San Francisco against several writers from IGN, Polygon and the like.

The new Defender Mode was revealed at COD XP 2016. This new mode is essentially a giant game of keepaway where you fight to take control of a drone. One you get this drone you have to stay alive and hope your team can protect you. The longer you keep the drone, the more points you accumulate. It is as simple as that.

Later tonight we will have our full Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Review. Check back at 9pm PT when it goes live.

Teminal

While there is no denying Infinite Warfare plays like Black Ops 3, this year the multiplayer has new weapons, lethals, tacticals, maps and combat rigs. It remains a rich and deep experience. It is also incredibly enjoyable and thrilling when you make the winner’s circle at the end of a map, like we did above.

In our review which goes live tonight, we say this: “Domination and Kill Confirmed remain my personal favorites but every mode CoD fans have come to enjoy are back. The maps themselves are incredibly balanced and look stunning. These seem far more vibrant this year. All maps feature that 2-3 lane structure engagement with either linear or circular style maps. Bottom line, you get into the action and fast. Despite sticking to that traditional CoD multiplayer formula, the maps still manage to feel fresh and unique. The games are fast, frantic and there is enough going on outside the game with levelling up, salvage, customizations and loot crates, to keep you entertained all year.”
