The Evil Within 2 Hands-On Gameplay
If there is only one thing Bethesda Studios can do, it makes you want whatever game it makes. 2014’s The Evil Within took horror games in a new direction, following the guidance of Resident Evil series creator Shinji Mikami, creating a third person horror experience that combines an unsettling atmosphere with jump scares, intense combat, and truly unique and haunting enemies to defeat that would make you sleep with the lights on. Three years later, Detective Sebastian Castellanos’ work is still not done. Grady Penna went hands-on with the terrifying sequel and brings you raw footage from his visit to a Bethesda showcase event. If you are still curious what the darkness might hold, check out his gameplay footage below.
The Evil Within 2 will see players step back into the boots of Detective Sebastian Castellanos. Dismissed from the police and his story ignored, Sebastian falls to the drink until his former partner tells him his daughter – long since thought to be dead – is still alive and being used by Mobius as a test subject in STEM. He re-enters the STEM device to discover the city of Union, a place created from his daughter, Lily’s mind. The Evil Within 2 will feature exploration, puzzle solving, and combat, as its twisted tale of darkness unfolds. Maps are larger than in the previous game and offer multiple routes and tactics to progress through the game.
The Evil Within 2 is set for release on October 13 and will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. For more information on the game, check out their official website.
