Capcom Beat ‘Em Up Bundle ReviewÂ
Capcom has been around a long time, and we’re reaping the benefits of that with the Capcom Beat ‘Em Up Bundle, a collection of arcade games released September 18th for the Switch. These games include Final Fight, Captain Commando, The King of Dragons, Knights of the Round and Warriors of Fate, along with Armored Warriors and Battle Circuit, two games never before brought to consoles. With updated features like difficulty settings and the ability to say goodbye to game overs, it’s just down to seeing how these games play in the video below.
As covered above, this bundle really depends on the games themselves to have staying power: a collection is only as good as its titles. Thankfully, even the weakest of the titles hold up, and the two new titled Armored Titles and Battle Circuit will hopefully prove a huge draw with unique features that are fun to play. The online co-op is a disappointment, but at least the local gameplay works very well, and altogether the bundle is worth its weight in quarters, as you’d spend more to beat all these games than the bundle costs today.
As our man Scott said in his video review: “It’s almost mind boggling to me that Capcom didn’t try and price this higher, but it’s right in line with their other recent collections they have dropped, and for what you’ll pay, this is arguably a steal. Beat ‘Em Ups aren’t known for their replay value, but I guarantee that unless you’re some kind of savant, you’d spend more in quarters trying to beat each of these games than what you’ll pay for it in its current form. The Capcom Beat ‘Em Up Bundle is another welcome feather in the cap that is their redemption arc that we’ve been seeing in 2018, and if you’re dying to knock heads with Mayor Haggar or rack up some coin with the crew of Battle Circuit, this is an excellent reminder of why Capcom did so much for this genre. Here’s to hoping we’ll see another collection that features some notable missing names, like The Punisher or Cadillacs and Dinosaurs. 2018 Capcom, please keep it up. We like you a lot.”
