The Best Video Game Releases for August 2018
As we near the end of the summer, August 2018 is here to end things with a bang before the lineup of big-name fall releases start to grace the gaming community. While July 2018 saw the release of Octopath Traveller, August 2018 brings some more Japanese games along with some highly anticipated releases. Let’s jump right into some of the releases to keep an eye on in August 2018.
Madden NFL 19 – PC, PS4, X1 – Aug 10
There are a few games that transcend the gaming industry, drawing in tons of players that play little else than their favorite series. Call of Duty, FIFA, and yes, Madden. With sports games often criticized year after year as “more of the same”, we found in our preview that the running game has been revamped to “look and play more realistic than ever”. In addition to that noticeable difference, Longshot 2 Homecoming is another significant improvement. As Madden NFL 19’s release inches near, we cannot wait for this game to release.
Monster Hunter: World – PC – Aug 9
Released on the PS4 and the Xbox One earlier this January, Monster Hunter: World finally makes its way to PC in August 2018. Being Capcom’s “best-selling title in company history”, Monster Hunter: World made the jump into the mainstream with its most accessible title of the franchise yet. In our original review, we found that “Monster Hunter: World takes everything the series does well and arguably does it better”. While Nintendo Switch fans may not have access to Monster Hunter: World, Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is set to release for the Nintendo Switch on August 28.
