‘Monster Hunter: World’ Has Sold Nearly 8 Million Copies

It’s The “Best-Selling Title in Company History”, Says Capcom

Monster Hunter: World has only been out for three months yet it has already become the most successful Capcom game ever made in terms of sales. In a Tuesday announcement, Capcom called it “a massive, record-setting success, becoming the best-selling title in company history”.

At 7.9 million copies sold, Monster Hunter: World has sold more than mainstream heavy-hitters such as Resident Evil 5 and 6. It even managed to outsell Resident Evil 7, even though that game came out over a year ago.

Monster Hunter: World is an open-world third-person RPG where players hunt down, you guessed it, dangerous, massive monsters. Every monster requires unique tactics and items and if players want to be a successful hunter then they’ll need to approach every encounter in a careful, planned out way.

When it came out back in January, the Capcom RPG garnered critical acclaim and nearly perfect scores from multiple gaming media outlets.

“For fans of the series and those dedicated to learning the game, Monster Hunter: World is an experience that can last players for a long time,” our own review read. “With strong gameplay, a decent narrative, and a great aesthetic,” our review continued, the open-world RPG “is one of the best entries in a series now accessible to many more players.”

Monster Hunter: World is out now for the PC, Xbox One and PS4.
