The Final Fantasy Franchise Continues
Final Fantasy XVI – June 22
It has been a few years since the last mainline Final Fantasy game has released (not counting remakes and the like), and Final Fantasy XVI looks to take things back towards a more fantasy setting than recent titles. Whenever a Final Fantasy game releases, it is a major event in the gaming landscape, and this feels no different. The game has not yet been released, but we are already excited by the prospects of a New Game+ mode being announced.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor – April 28
Despite a lot of skepticism early on, Respawn Entertainment worked its magic on the Star Wars franchise with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order back in 2019. Four years later, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor looks to continue that trend, and if recent gameplay videos are any indication, it will do so with ease. Being exclusive to current-gen consoles (and PC) will also lead to better optimization and hopefully an overall better experience.
Street Fighter 6 – June 2
Street Fighter is back with its sixth mainline title, bringing the storied fighting game franchise to the latest generation of consoles. As a fighting game casual, I am looking forward to World Tour, a single-player story mode with a customizable character and world exploration. In addition to updated gameplay and graphics, Street Fighter 6 will also have a real-time commentary system which will bring a new feel to the overall experience.
