3. Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii – February 21
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is the most anticipated game of 2025 for some players. It’s a spin-off of the Like a Dragon series, using the settings of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. The game stars fan favorite character Goro Majima, and goes back to the real-time combat of the first 7 mainline series entries. A major new gameplay feature is naval combat. Fans expect Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii to be one of the wackiest Like a Dragon games yet. Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii will be available for everything except the Switch.
2. Civilization VII – February 11
Civilization VII is the latest entry in the long-running turn-based strategy series, Civilization. It’s been 8 years since Civilization VI! This newest title doesn’t sound like it’s doing much more than perfecting and streamlining the beloved series gameplay. One interesting note is that Gwendoline Christie, famous for playing Game of Throne’s Brienne of Tarth, will voice Civilization VII’s narration. Civilization VII will be available for all consoles and PC.
1. Monster Hunter Wilds – February 28
There have been a lot of Monster Hunter games, but the biggest selling success is Monster Hunter: World. Monster Hunter Wilds is the long-awaited sequel to that massive spin-off. Though the monster hunting action JRPG gameplay remains largely the same, Monster Hunter Wilds will have a focus on 4 player co-op. There is also a large badger-like creature that players can ride, which adds new combat options. Monster Hunter Wilds will be available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
