Pokemon Sword and Shield – Switch – Nov 15
While the Pokemon series has plateau’d a bit since its days on the 3DS, the Nintendo Switch is sure to breathe new life into the series with a massive overhaul of the core gameplay experience. While not the first Pokemon game on the Nintendo Switch, Sword and Shield appears to be the next step for the franchise, with many new features sure to excite both new and returning players.
Red Dead Redemption 2 – PC – Nov 5
Sure, it has been about a year since Red Dead Redemption 2 released, but now it is making its way to PC. As one of the best games of 2018, Red Dead Redemption 2 looks to conquer a new frontier on PC, and if Grand theft Auto V’s success on PC is any indication, Red Dead will do just fine. In our console review, we had noted that “Rockstar have outdone themselves with Red Dead Redemption 2 as it ushers in a new era of what the medium is capable of achieving.”
Death Stranding – PS4 – Nov 8
Not only is Death Stranding the biggest video game release in November 2019, it may just be the biggest release in 2019 period. Hideo Kojima, now given free reign with his own studio is set to release its first title. This is Hideo Kojima unfiltered. And where it goes remains to be seen. As much fun as it is to make claims that its continued trailers leave us more confused than before, the high standards that Kojima has previously set keep us optimistic that Death Stranding will keep those standards. Add in an A-list cast rarely seen in video games, and Death Stranding might just help to elevate the medium to its next phase.
