3. Dead Island 2 – April 21
If the Top 5 Video Games Arriving in April 2023 was based solely on development time, Dead Island 2 would easily claim the top spot. It’s been 10 years since Dead Island: Riptide was released. Different builds of Dead Island 2 go back that far as well. This sequel is set in the same world, but 10 years later, and on the US West Coast. The game promises several major new gameplay mechanics to go with its new setting. Hopefully all the extra development time means less trouble, and more polish. Dead Island 2 will be available for everything except Switch.
2. Minecraft Legends – April 18
There’s no doubt that Minecraft is a cultural phenomenon. Its spin-offs haven’t blown any minds, but they sure are hot commodities. Minecraft’s last spin-off, Minecraft Dungeons, had over 10 million players. Minecraft Legends is described as a multiplayer action/ strategy game. The gameplay trailer doesn’t help to clarify that vague description, so just assume it’s a Musou game until proven otherwise. Minecraft Legends will be available for all consoles and PC.
1. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor – April 28
The #1 game on COGconnected’s Top 5 Video Games Arriving in April 2023 is Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. I had to look at sales numbers to determine the order of this month’s Top 3, but Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sold over 20 million copies! Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s story takes place 5 years after Fallen Order. The gameplay promises to be more of the same, but with tweaks, and a few more options. Who are we at COGconnected to deny the immense popularity of Star Wars? Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be available for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
Do you agree with our choices? Is it fair to put so much emphasis on prior franchise sales numbers? Let us know in the comments.
Thank you for keeping it locked on COGconnected.
