Top 5 Customization Features in Skylanders Imaginators
Toys for Bob has gone above and beyond with their latest creation, Skylanders Imaginators, giving the player multiple options for character customization with both beginner and expert options to make the game accessible to young and old alike. With so many possibilities for crafting your own unique Skylander, there is simply too much to talk about. Here are the Top 5 customization features for Skylanders Imaginators.
5. Soundtrack
Imaginators does something I don’t think I’ve seen elsewhere: the choice of multiple themed soundtracks. Unlocked as the game progresses, players can choose from a variety of styles from Rock to Country, Electronic, and a whole host of other options to be the standard background music for the game. As the game intensifies the music will shift appropriately but it never feels choppy or even repetitive. The recorded music is quite long and just like any other customization feature it can be switched at a moment’s notice. As a fun twist to go with the frivolous mayhem, the game also features multiple options for a Sound Effect layer. This layer will add certain specific sounds not only in tune with the selected soundtrack, but will also designate the sounds made when jumping, attacking, and performing a whole host of other actions. Sound Effect layers include farts, farm animals, retro video games, and all manner of childish delight.
4. Combat Moves
Most platforming titles don’t offer much in the way of customized attack beyond having different equipped gear, but Imaginators allows the player to unlock attacks both specific to their battle class and to their element. This opens up a considerable number of combinations for the player to explore and get the perfect feel for their character. Attacks are unlocked by defeating bosses as well as using Sensei’s on the portal. These attacks are often over the top and don’t require a cool down or any form of MP to perform which can really add to the chaos.
3. Personality
What is a creation system without a little personality? Players can select two lines of preset dialogue that will combined to create a variety of catchphrases for the Imaginator to say when loading into the game (Mine was “Make way for the Big Guns!”) from there, the Imaginators voice is determined much like the soundtrack: a base voice is selected between anything from Tiny, Robot, or Giant all the way to pure alien Gibberish. A secondary effect can then be layered on top to really give your Imaginator that unique presence. As if that wasn’t enough, these voice selections coupled with your battle class will give your Imaginator a unique dialogue set when reacting to his surroundings, combat, or other Skylanders. It’s a nice touch that brings your creation one step closer to life.
