The Top 12 Remakes and Remasters of this Generation

Bioshock: The Collection

The first Bioshock title was an instant success, while Bioshock 2 did not meet expectations set after the first title. Then came Bioshock Infinite which once again struck gold. Bioshock: The Collection packages up these three solid titles, giving players access to strong narratives and gameplay. When there’s a remastered collection containing two relatively recent game of the year contenders, you know that’s a good thing.

Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX

The PlayStation 2 era was a wonderful time for JRPGs, and one of the most popular series among them was Kingdom Hearts. Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX brings together all the titles in the Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX collections, letting PS4 players in on the story before the eventual release of Kingdom Hearts 3. Combining Disney characters with Final Fantasy was an idea that brought together two huge fanbases in a successful way.

Metro Redux

Metro Redux is a remake of Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light in one compilation. With a new engine, game modes, difficulty, graphical, and gameplay improvements, Metro Redux puts two of the most underappreciated FPS games in one neat package. With the next game of the franchise, Metro Exodus set to release in the (hopefully) near future, Metro Redux is yet again, an effective way to catch up in the series.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is, of course, a remaster of the ever-popular Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Perhaps the game that helped boost the franchise to mainstream levels, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was an instant classic that was a multiplayer hit. With memorable maps and gameplay, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is a celebration of the classic title along with new customization items, guns, and melee weapons. Looking better than ever, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is a remaster done right.
