Anthem – Bioware / Electronic Arts
Whether you’re on the fence about Bioware’s new and upcoming title, Anthem is definitely one of the most anticipated titles of 2018 (or later, we’re being highly optimistic here), and not just on the Xbox. After the disappointment of Mass Effect: Andromeda, fans of Bioware are waiting for the experience they feel they missed out on this year, and it looks like Anthem might just be that game. Although Bioware might have earned its reputation for creating massive RPG titles, Anthem represents something entirely different. This action-adventure title features a beautiful open world and awesome Javelin exosuits and will let you play either cooperatively with a friend or all by yourself. Anthem is a massive futuristic open-world title that looks a lot like Bioware’s version of Destiny, and that alone is enough to keep you on the edge of your seat until its release next year.
Crackdown 3 – Microsoft
After waiting over seven years for a new Crackdown experience, Crackdown 3 is just a mere few months away, set to release in the Spring of 2018. This latest title in the franchise will follow the same formula as the previous titles; you play a futuristic super-policeman with a powerful suit featuring advanced armor and weapons. The developer, Sumo Digital is switching it up a bit, however, bringing a reputation-based system to the game, where factions will change their behavior depending on your actions. Although Crackdown 3 was originally set to release alongside the Xbox One X back in November, it was pushed in order to deliver fans the right quality and to add a bit of extra polish to the graphics. Despite the disappointment, this delay has made the anticipation that much greater amongst its ever-growing fanbase.
Red Dead Redemption 2 – Rockstar
We all know Rockstar knows how to make a captivating and immersive title that stays that way for years, just look at GTA V. Almost eight years after the release of the original Red Dead Redemption, we’ll finally be able to get our hands on the second title in just a few short months. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel to the original and will follow the story of Arthur Morgan and his merry band of thieves, the Van der Linde gang, as they fight and steal their way across the vast and gorgeous world Rockstar has created. Considering the main story focuses on a gang, it will also be interesting to see what the online multiplayer experience will look like as well; hell it may even make GTA online look dated! Not only does the gameplay draw you in with its badassery, but the expansion of the original town of Blackwater and beyond to include the winter landscapes of Roanoke Ridge and the Grizzlies is set to make for a thrilling time. A bigger map, a bolder multiplayer, and an overall more captivating experience are just a few reasons why Red Dead Redemption 2 is the most anticipated title of 2018 on the Xbox One. Watch for its release in Spring 2018!
