6. Axiom Verge 2 – Releases Fall 2020 on Switch
As we reported to you this past December, Nintendo announced this sequel to Axiom Verge at its Indie World livestream, and we’ve been breathlessly waiting its release ever since. The same, awesome Metroidvania action looks to be coming back once again, judging by the trailer, but other than that we have scant details as to what new aspects we might see in the follow-up. There’s no doubt, though, that the wait will surely be worth it.
5. Ooblets – Releases 2020 on Xbox One, PC
A really promising game whose development we’ve been watching for a while, Ooblets will appeal to anyone who enjoys games like Stardew Valley or Animal Crossing, with its similar farming/life sim gameplay. Plus, there’s a Pokemon-like twist that has you training cute little Ooblets in a quest to become the best Trainer around. We’ve always said that this indie title is bound for greatness, and 2020 might be the year we actually see it release — let’s hope.
4. Tunic – Release Date TBA on Xbox One, PC
Indie games developer Finji has been reportedly working on this game in some form for a few years, but this year we might actually get to play it. Imagine something along the lines of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, with a similar isometric 3D world, but this time our hero is a lovable tunic-wearing fox who fights monsters and explores a vast world. The beautiful visuals, soothing soundtrack and classic Zelda vibe all have us holding our breath to get our hands on this title, hopefully in 2020.
