The Top 10 Games of 2019 So Far…

3) Resident Evil 2

Although you may not have thought a remake of an original title from 1998 would make the list, let alone find it in the top three, there are plenty of reasons to love Resident Evil 2. As you probably would’ve guessed, this remake comes complete with improved graphics, improved combat mechanics, and a genuinely creepy atmosphere from start to finish. This survival horror game will have you at the edge of your seat the whole way through, offering up a rather unhealthy serving of heart palpitations, so it’s probably best to be prepared with some Xanax. After 21 years this game truly is a zombie-killing love letter from Capcom to their fans.

2) Devil May Cry 5

Fans of the Devil May Cry series have been waiting over a decade for the next game in the main storyline to drop and finally it arrived earlier this year. Though a decade may be a long damn time to wait for a game, it was well worth it here. Devil May Cry 5 showcases some amazing hack-and-slash action paired with bloody and brilliant graphics and though the franchise might be well known for its graphical prowess, it’s even better than ever. Nero shines like never before and the addition of the new character V is not only exciting, but fun as well. It’s hard not to fall in love with a game that has so much to offer, especially when the fast paced combat is just oh so stylish.

1) Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Samurai, ancient Japan, revenge. Need I really say more? FromSoftware’s latest title, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a wonderfully intoxicating mix of that ridiculously punishing combat the developer is well known for, and brand new gameplay mechanics and an intense story. From satisfyingly smooth map traversal, mainly thanks to a mechanical arm that allows for grappling, to a range of Shinobi Tools and abilities, it’s hard not to feel like a badass playing this game. Considering just how effortlessly well executed and how immensely fun the entire experience is, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is undoubtedly leading the pack as the best game of the year to date.
