5) Atomic Heart (Q4 2022)
Atomic Heart is an action RPG with first-person shooter combat that oozes the Fallout and Bioshock retro-futuristic aesthetic. It all takes place within the Soviet Union of an alternate dystopian universe. Take on the role of a KGB agent in this bizarre world and face off against killer robots. Save your ammo though, as getting through this world alive isn’t going to be easy. If you’ve seen any of the trailers of Atomic Heart you’ll know two things: 1) it’s really, really strange and 2) it’s gorgeous. Sign me up for all of it.
4) Modern Warfare II (Fall 2022)
Year after year fans of the Call of Duty franchise are gifted with yet another game to add to their continuously growing collection. Activision Blizzard recently confirmed that Modern Warfare II will be the latest in the longstanding COD franchise. It will be a direct sequel of Modern Warfare from 2019, and will release alongside a brand new Warzone battle royale experience. While we don’t know much it’s safe to say it’ll feature some nostalgic maps from the original Modern Warfare II game complete with some killer graphical improvements. And of course, some game-changing gameplay additions and upgrades to what fans have loved about the last few COD titles. My money’s on a kickass new game mode. Though I’d also love a return of team defender!
3) Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands (March 25, 2022)
Fans of the Borderlands franchise are going to go nuts over Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. If you’ve played previous games you’ll know she’s a beloved NPC who makes appearances in Borderlands 2, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, and Borderlands 3. She’s a demolitions expert with a larger than life personality and attitude. Is she stable? Maybe not. Is she a badass? Totally. It’s hard not to love her and it’ll be even harder not to want to jump right into Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. It’s a full spin-off just for her and the combat and explosions are going to be a crazy good time. Get ready for even more catchphrases!
2) S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl (December 8, 2022)
It’s been more than a decade since we’ve been able to sink our teeth into a new S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game. By the end of the year, the wait will finally be over. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl is set as a sequel of the original game that was released in 2007, and with next-gen graphics thanks to Unreal Engine 5. Whether you’re a fan of the previous games or you’re looking for an FPS title with a post-apocalyptic survival twist, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is sure to knock your socks off. It’ll be immersive, horrific and a bloody good time. All that and some smooth shooting mechanics will undoubtedly make your journey to the zone an unforgettable one.
1) Redfall (September 2022)
If there’s one game that’s going to make vampires look incredibly cool it’s Redfall. It’s an open-world co-op FPS from Arkane Studios that’s beautifully crafted, complete with ingenious gameplay and combat mechanics. In the small town of Redfall, Massachusetts, you and your friends will play as a group of survivors whose mission is to destroy the blood-sucking vampires terrorizing the town. Each of the four survivors have their own unique abilities to battle the vampires and you’ll be able to create the perfect loadout for maximum damage. Be careful though, since the vampires of Redfall are a creation of a science experiment gone wrong, they’re equipped with some powerful abilities of their own. Redfall is definitely a game to get lost in. It’s going to be a damn good time.
