3. Fire Emblem Warriors
Fire Emblem has been exploding into the Nintendo mainstream here in the West in the last several years and the series is only getting bigger. Partnering with Omega Force, Team Ninja, and Koei Tecmo, Fire Emblem is the latest series to get the ‘Warriors’ treatment, and it’s definitely a series well suited to the overwhelming combat.
With a new world in danger by the power of an evil dragon, heroes from across the series have come to save the world. Fire Emblem Warriors is a highly anticipated entry into the series and looks like it will be an absolutely blast when it hits both 3DS and Nintendo Switch this Fall.
2. Metroid Prime 4
Nintendo has us all wrapped around its little finger, but at least the closer we are to it, we can try to hear its whispers and rumblings about upcoming titles like Metroid Prime 4. All we got was the games name on a black background with the series iconic music, and it’s enough to make every Nintendo fanboy squeal with delight.
Metroid Prime was a defining entry into Nintendo’s library when it first hit back in 2002. With two incredibly successful sequels, the series remained dormant for far too long. With no details whatsoever, the announcement alone that this game is finally in the works is enough to make everyone hold their breath in anticipation for the slightest morsel of information. This was easily the biggest reveal for Nintendo.
1. Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Monolith Soft has a reputation for making immaculate, massive, and gorgeous open worlds. Continuing with the much loved Xenoblade series, the game had been previously announced with the original trailer for the Switch. This was our first close look at what we can expect and by no means did it disappoint.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 continues the theme of mind-blowingly massive areas to explore, customization, larger than life enemies, and everything that makes this beloved JRPG series phenomenal. The trailer introduces us to some of the characters we can expect to encounter, and the curious partnership between Rex – the main character of the trailer – and Pyra, the blade character herself. Monothlith Soft previously helped in the development of Breath of the Wild, hence its truly immersive and expansive open world. With their attention squarely turned to the exhaustively beautiful Xenoblade, we can only imagine it will be one of the largest open worlds in gaming yet.
