The Three Best (and Worst) Games of September 2020

3 Up, 3 Down – September 2020

September has come and gone, bringing us yet another month closer to the release of the next generation of consoles. While that month will undoubtedly have some of the biggest games of the year, September 2020 has its fair share of good (and bad) games.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2

The Best

13 Sentinels Aegis Rim

13 Sentinels Aegis Rim is a unique JRPG that works through a 2D sidescrolling adventure portion combined with a top-down kaiju-battling combat system. From the developers behind Odin Sphere and Dragon’s Crown, you knew that 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim was going to deliver a strong experience. Some reasons that the title lives up to expectations include its beautiful graphics, complex but fascinating narrative, and compelling combat. In our review, we concluded that “you’ll be left with a rich, beautiful, compelling game you can scarcely put down.”

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2

A lot of gamers grew up with, or at the very least enjoyed a Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game at one point or another. In a landscape with numerous remakes and remasters, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 is a unique one in that it manages to capture the nostalgia of the originals while improving upon certain aspects as well. In our review, we noted that “this collection of the first two titles maintains the massive combo, time crunching goodness that Tony Hawk fans have been waiting years for.”

Crusader Kings III

Paradox Development Studio is at it again with Crusader Kings III, a long awaited next entry in the Crusader Kings franchise. The game puts you in the role of a royal or noble of your choice, making decisions while the world around you continues on. The game is a bit hard to elaborate on in a short writeup here, so make sure you check out the full review. Its improved UI, improved graphics, and ability to take the best of its previous games show that “there’s a magic here, a storytelling generator that you won’t find anywhere else.”
