Edens Zero is an action JRPG based on the manga of the same name. The game doesn’t do a great job of retelling the story, and can be difficult to follow. The missions are linear, and are far too similar to one another. There’s lots to do, but it mostly feels like padding and busywork. Our reviewer noted that “The combat lacks the nuance found in stronger action-RPGs”. Edens Zero is bland, and will probably only be enjoyed by people familiar with, and in love with, the source material. Eden Zero scored 55, making it an easy inclusion in The Bad section of The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games July 2025.
Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening – Complete Edition

Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening – Complete Edition is a very complex strategy game. The series has been going since the NES, but has only grown more complicated over time. Even strategy game veterans might have a hard time getting into Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening – Complete Edition’s systems. This version is on the Switch 2, and greatly benefits from Switch 2’s mouse support. Our reviewer concluded “The density of material, the pacing, the interface, all of this smashed against my limited attention span with incredible force”. Even though our reviewer struggled, they still scored Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening – Complete Edition 65/100, so anyone curious might really enjoy it. This was the game from late June 2025 we put on The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games July 2025.
Tamagotchi Plaza: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition

Tamagotchi Plaza is not a virtual pet game. It’s a collection of mini games for a very young audience that feature characters from Tamagotchis. One strange issue our reviewer had is that the minigames didn’t have instructions, and often weren’t easy to figure out. This is a real problem in a game for kids. Our reviewer asked “Would it kill them to incorporate parts of the traditional Tamagotchi experience into its video games?”. Tamagotchi Plaza: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition feels like a lazy effort, which made it easy to include in The Bad section of The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games July 2025.
