The Bad
Highwater

Highwater is a turn-based tactical RPG about a world that’s undergone a realistic apocalypse. It has an appealing stylized art style, but that’s really the only thing that sets it apart from other games in the genre. The writing is pretty bland, and the gameplay felt like it was on rails. Our reviewer concluded that Highwater “needs a team of writers who understand character and dialogue a little better, and that showing is better than telling”. But the game still scored 65/100, and any other month likely wouldn’t be in the Bad section of The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games from April 2024.
Mixture

Mixture is a VR adventure game similar to Moss. The gameplay takes place from two perspectives: a moth knight and a God. Mixture scored 72/100 and is a good game, but because it’s so similar to so many other VR titles, it loses points. Our reviewer wrote “Mixture may have less personality than Moss, but the gameplay is overall solid minus the throwing mechanics”. Even though it in the Bad section of The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games from April 2024 don’t let it discourage you if you’re curious.
Perish

Perish is a roguelike first person shooter. It looks good and plays pretty fun. But in a world of many first person shooters, it’s in the lower tier. Our reviewer concluded “Aside from some sharp visuals and a nonsensical blend of mythologies, Perish is just too rooted in outdated FPS tropes and bland design to spend much time with”. It’s the only game with a truly low score on of The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games from April 2024.
