Best Action Game – Hitman 2

Paul’s favorite wins the day! As a true and intense action experience, Hitman 2 does what any good sequel does – it builds incredibly well off of an established formula. If you have played a Hitman game, you know what to expect and this is another title that people might overlook this year which would be an absolute shame. Plus, you can kill a guy with a fish!

Best Shooter – Rage 2

With yet another sea of competitors, Rage 2 stood a head above the rest due largely in part to the fantastic work of id Software. Giving us this gorgeous and badass Doom meets Borderlands feel, Rage 2 has dynamic music to get you pumped, visceral and gory combat, and it gives us a fresh face in the shooter genre. While it may have been a surprise title, Bethesda seems to be bringing it back and throwing it hard in our faces. It looks great, it feels fantastic, and it was hands down a simple choice.

Best RPG – Kingdom Hearts 3

When a game gets shown at not one but three different conferences, it’s going to be a big deal. Kingdom Hearts 3 spent so long in development we almost didn’t think it would happen, but the move loved franchise was one of the hot words this year at E3. With familiar faces and brand new Disney locations alike, Kingdom Hearts 3 is going to pull at our heart strings while giving us a truly incredibly RPG experience.

Best New Game – Cyberpunk 2077

After an age in development and only a cinematic trailer to go off of, we finally got to see Cyberpunk 2077 in action and it has been worth the wait. CD Projekt Red is making a lot of promises with Cyberpunk and we have no doubt they will hit every one of them. Not only is this a massive game, it’s done in a style we rarely see executed on such a huge scale. The gaming community is geared and ready to be immersed in what will surely be a new benchmark in gaming.

Best Lore – Cyberpunk 2077

This was a tightly contested choice, as we wanted to pick a game that used the very narrative of the world. Cyberpunk 2077 has that fresh take we haven’t seen outside of film with the gritty, punk, cybernetic dystopian future. Just a few screenshots alone are enough to know this is an entirely different experience but seeing it at E3 in action cemented the meticulous work CD Projekt Red has put into this world.
