Here are the five best reasons to get into Season 3 of Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.
5.) A Classic Game Mode Returns
Sticks & Stones is back. For the uninitiated, Sticks & Stones equips all players with a crossbow, Ballistic Knife and a Tomahawk. Everyone is on their own in a race to earn the most kills, however look out for the dreaded Tomahawk which will set your score back to zero if you’re hit with it. The developers wanted to bring Sticks & Stones back because they feel these style of party games are a nice break from the standard, intense multiplayer modes.
4.) New Scorestreak
While Black Ops Cold War has a vast assortment of Scorestreaks already. Some are great, such as the Napalm Strike, while others are, like the Combat Bow, are complete garbage. In a welcome surprise, Season 3 is bringing in a brand new offensive Scorestreak called the Strafe Run. With this Scorestreak, a pair of jet fighters will streak along the operating area, showering bullets and rockets upon it’s targets. This Scorestreak will be considered mid-tier, meaning most players should get a chance to earn it – unlike some of those ridiculous high-tier Scorestreaks.
3.) A Brand New Warzone
Okay, so it’s not exactly a “brand new” Warzone, we’ll still be fighting in Verdansk, however this time around, it’s 1984. The developers have put a ton of thought into this update, quite literally updating every area of Verdansk. Verdansk ’84 will take place in spring providing a brighter, more cheerful look compared to the Verdansk we currently know. We should also get a fun 80’s vibe from a lot of the businesses in the area. There’s some big changes to Verdansk layout as well. The airport is no longer destroyed, providing a large interior area to fight in. The stadium is under construction yet still fully accessible. The dam is no more, and is replaced with an expansive bridge and, get this, the fan favourite map from Black Ops 2, Summit. The cable cars actually work too! But that’s not all. Another fan favourite map, Standoff, will be squeezed into Verdansk! In fact, there are no less than 6 brand new areas included in Verdansk ’84, with many other areas being modified to make for a more enjoyable experience.
2.) Brand New Multiplayer Maps
Season 3 brings 3 new 6v6 multiplayer maps to the party, including one fan favourite. First up is Yamantau, set after the events of the Season 3 story opener. This mountain-side map will have plenty of close quarters battles within the destroyed base and alongside the downed satellite dish. Next up is Diesel, an American gas station designed for fast paced, intense action. Snipers might want to sit this one out. Could Diesel be the next Nuketown? Let’s hope so. Finally, the fan favourite map from Black Ops II, Standoff, makes a triumpant return. Yes, not only is it making an appearance in Verdansk ’84, it’s also jumping into multiplayer playlists as well.
