The Best Looking Games of 2018
It’s COGconnected’s Game of the Year awards, and we’re taking a look the best looking games of 2018.
12. Ni No Kuni II
Retaining the charming, gorgeous art style of the renowned Studio Ghibli, Ni No Kuni 2’s visuals significantly enhance the joyful nature of this JRPG. From sunbathed mountainscapes to villages illuminated by a neon glow, every inch of the world is lovely to behold. Not to mention the excellent character models and animations.
11. Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey
Considering the massive scope of the game world, Odyssey’s striking depiction of ancient Greece is all the more impressive. Whether you’re grasping the balls of a giant sculpture or blazing the thug-ridden seas, those blessed god rays gracing the intricately detailed environments are just stunning. The same can be said for the many towns and cities, armor and weapon designs, and the always notable animations.
10. Celeste
Celeste’s colorful pixel art is downright enamoring. Each level is unique in design and appearance, and the underlying message of the game dramatically contributes to platforming through the rich environments. I may have personally set a record-breaking death count, but at least I was visually captivated while doing so.
9. Dead Cells
Dead Cells’ graphics are dead-ass delightful. I’ll refrain from pretending to fully understand the technical jargon, but the game’s impressive blend of 2D and 3D pixel art is incredible to watch in action. Animations are frenzied and intense, backgrounds are elegantly lit with a sense of depth, and the monster designs are haunting. Dead Cells kicks my ass, but it sure is a looker.
