4.) Upgrade Your Equipment
At the beginning of Attack on Titan there are three equipment categories: 1) blades, 2) scabbards/canisters and 3) omni-directional mobility gear. The blades are what determine the amount of damage inflicted on the titans for each strike. The scabbards hold the extra blades, and gas, and the canisters are the gas used when jumping and boosting around the maps. Lastly, the omni-directional mobility gear allows you to anchor yourself onto buildings and objects, and grapple titans. In order to move quicker, attack faster, hold more equipment and inflict maximum damage, it is crucial to buy and upgrade the best equipment. This is what makes the game a bit easier amongst the chaotic gameplay and it is what will make you victorious each and every level.
5.) Take Advantage Of Character Differences
Throughout the game you will play as multiple characters, each with a unique ability or ‘perk’. It is completely beneficial to take advantage of these differences as they change the style of play. For example, Mikasa can deal multiple blows to titans while only grappling for one hit, meaning that she can cut all limbs off in one go. Armin on the other hand has the ability to direct the 4 other members of his team which allows him to call on them whenever he needs help. Every time I play a new character I swear he/she is my favourite, only to have a new character change my mind! This adds so much fun to the game, so why not take advantage of these differences?!
6.) Stay Away From Groups Of Titans
In order to stay unharmed, it is advisable to stay away from big groups of titans. There are times, especially when you are learning the controls, that you will get stuck between a few different titans, making the game all the more difficult. As a way to ensure that you will not be dived at, picked up or trampled on, it is best to stay in the air, with only a few titans around you. I found the most frustrating part about trying to kill titans while they are grouped up is that attacks will often miss. This happens because another titan will block your view and your grapple will detach from the original titan. As a way to make sure that all attacks actually hit their mark, it is beneficial to fight a few titans at a time, with ample space between each.
Hopefully these tips are just what you need to make the most of Attack on Titan, as you feast on the bodies of the fallen titans! Equipped with this knowledge, and an abundance of guts and glory, this is your moment to rid the world of the titans for good!
