Can Hogwarts Legacy Shine Through the Controversy?
Hogwarts Legacy is gearing up to be one of the biggest game releases of 2023 and that’s largely because of the huge Harry Potter fanbase. There’s a lot to get excited about when it comes to this latest venture into the magical wizarding universe but there’s also a couple reasons you might want to steer clear of the game altogether. With its release just a few short days away (for some anyway) we figured it’d be the best time to highlight our top 3 reasons to play and 3 reasons to stay away from Hogwarts Legacy. Enjoy!
3 Reasons to Play
3) It’s Been More than 10 Years Since a New Harry Potter Game
It’s been well over a decade since we’ve had a brand new Harry Potter experience to sink our teeth into. None have really tried to put their name into the fire since EA released their series based on the books and Lego released their version. Not even to try and create a spark from the Fantastic Beasts movie releases. Well, outside of the variety of Wizarding World games released on mobile over the years, that is. So naturally, Hogwarts Legacy is a huge deal for Harry Potter fans worldwide. It’s an immersive single player RPG that’s set in the 1800s; well before the events we’re familiar with in the Harry Potter franchise. While this means we won’t be seeing the usual characters, it also means we can make this world entirely our own.
2) Spells
Harry Potter magic caster wands at home are all the rage right now and with good reason. Whether you got your letter to Hogwarts or you’re still just a muggle, you’re able to learn and practice spells at home. Now these caster wands might set you back $149 USD, but Hogwarts Legacy is just $60 USD. And both allow you to have a ton of fun with spells. If you’ve been on Tik Tok at all over the last couple weeks you’ve seen all the Harry Potter spell jokes. From the famous Hermione Granger Wingardium Leviosa scene to Lord Voldemort’s Avada Kedavra compilations, there’s a lot of moments to recreate in Hogwarts Legacy.
I know I’ll be having fun remaking all of my favorite Harry Potter moments. And who doesn’t want to be able to use those forbidden spells, right? Okay, well we’re not all dark wizards in the making, but there’s still a lot of other spells we can use. ACCIO Hogwarts Legacy!
1) It’s a Unique and Magical Experience
Bottom line is that Hogwarts Legacy is a Harry Potter game. It’s full of all the magic we love. There’s no script we have to stick to this time though. We can create our own characters and roam the grounds of Hogwarts like never before. Have you ever thought of being a dark wizard? Now’s your chance. How about being sorted into a different house than your usual? The best part is being able to create your own path, good or bad, in the Wizarding World. And there’s nothing that says you can’t create 4 unique experiences with all 4 save game slots available. Create wacky characters, break all the rules and find all kinds of secrets that live in the halls of Hogwarts. Hogwarts Legacy is your very own world to do as you see fit.
