8. BJ Blazkowicz – Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus
Okay, so maybe BJ might need to be toned down just a little for Smash Bros, but given the fact the game has had a street fighter, a top enhanced soldier with a variety of guns, numerous people with swords… it isn’t out of the realm of possibility. While this would be more of a fan service thing rather than a probable entry, Wolfenstein II is set to appear on the Switch and from a business standpoint, exposure is a pretty big deal. BJ would have a lot of potential as a blend between say Fox and Samus, so fingers crossed we see this All-American cross our screens to take on the plumber.
7. Spyro – Spyro series
If you needed a game full of beloved mascots to beat the crap out of each other, how has Spyro never made the cut? This little dragon has been on everybody’s wish list since Smash Bros Melee was announced. The iconic little guy is not only colorful, sassy, and full of potential in a game like Smash but it’s also been announced that Spyro is getting the remaster treatment of all three original Spyro games and will most likely launch in September – the games 20 year anniversary. While you are moving around some pixels and re-rendering the dragon, why not add him to the Smash roster? His next appearance is set to be on PS4 before later porting to other consoles, and the Skylanders series is – for all intents and purposes – flatlined, so this is the perfect chance to bring him in.
6. Rabbids – Rayman Raving Rabbids, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle
This one has also popped up in the past as a dream entry. The recent partnership of Nintendo and Ubisoft made one of the best games on Switch last year, so why not keep the ball rolling? Including a basic Rabbid character with the various costumes of Kingdom Battle seems 1) simple as you’ve already rendered them for the previous title and 2) a no brainer. While diehard fans will debate that Rayman deserves a shot, it’s the Rabbids who have stolen the show and could provide hours of hilarious gameplay: Who wouldn’t want to take on Rabbids in 100 man melee or endless mode?
5. Crash Bandicoot – Crash series
Crash Bandicoot received an unexpected revival after quite a long flatline. The adorable orange tornado made his appearance as a guest character in the latest Skylanders game, and his original trilogy was given a complete remaster from the ground up. The trilogy has gone on to be hugely successful and was recently announced to be ported to the Nintendo Switch. A longtime fan favorite to be added to the roster, to ignore Crash would probably make more backlash than anything at this point – the people love and adore him, he deserves to be put in the same game as Mario, Pac Man, Mega Man, and Sonic.
