11 Upcoming Remasters and Remakes You’ll Want to Get Your Hands On in 2016

3 – Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess HD (WiiU)

Release Date: March 4th 2016

The WiiU has joined the HD remaster train as a major Zelda game is getting the treatment. Twilight Princess, amongst the other Zelda games, took a much darker and eerie turn in terms of story and visuals. It was different, enticing, extremely memorable and definitely made an impact on the Nintendo GameCube in 2006. On top of getting it’s HD remaster, we’ll also be getting a special amiibo for it – which I’m sure will be the next hot amiibo to get your hands on.

2 – Yakuza Kiwami (PS3, PS4)

Release Date: January 21st 2016 in Japan (no word on a North American release)

With recent exciting Yakuza localization announcements, Yakuza fans have been rejoicing, but still eagerly awaiting other localization announcements for the series like Yakuza Ishin!, Yakuza 6, and without a doubt, Yakuza Kiwami. Yakuza Kiwami is a remake of the very first Yakuza game that made its debut in 2005 on the PS2. It has obtained international attention but, as we’ve seen, newer instalments of the Yakuza series had to be begged and petitioned for localization. At least we know localization is possible as Yakuza 5 and Yakuza 0 were given the thumbs up for localization. For now, we can only hope for other Yakuza games, like Yakuza Kiwami, to be localized.

1 – Final Fantasy VII Remake (PS4)

UPDATE: Square Enix producer, Yoshinori Kitase, recently told Japanese magazine Famitsu that “I believe that this year will still be a year of preparations for Final Fantasy VII Remake,” shared Kitase. “I’d like to create a new kind of value for the hardware that is the PlayStation 4 for our next announcement”. Hinting that the game might not be released in 2016, but that surely isn’t set in stone quite yet.

Release Date: TBA (2016?)

Final Fantasy VII, THE game that needed to be remade is actually getting a remake. Unexpectedly announced at Sony’s E3 press conference, the whole world definitely shook a bit when its trailer was shown. Not only is it one of the most looked-forward-to remakes, it’s plainly one of the most looked-forward-to games. We’ll be able to see Cloud and Sephiroth in full 1080p, what more could a person ask for? In the meantime, however, we’ll just have to wonder how the game will be remade, or even reimagined.

Which upcoming remasters and remakes are you most excited for? Did we miss one you think should be on the list? Or, in contrast, which one are you more nervous than excited for?  Let us know in the comment section below.
