The second Warner Bros. game on this list, Hogwarts Legacy fulfills the longtime craving for a Harry Potter RPG. While gameplay remains a mystery, some details about the game have revealed that we can expect to take part in our favorite wizarding activities. Opportunities to tame magical beasts, brew potions, and explore famous locations will fill each player’s wizarding world.
4. S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Heart of Chernobyl
With S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Call of Pripyat releasing in 2009, fans of GSC Game World’s series have been surviving on rations. Despite a long and dark winter of minimal updates on the games existence, S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 made its first gameplay appearance at Xbox’s 2021 E3 showcase. Not only was the announcement of a 2022 release date a surprise, but so was a full gameplay reveal as well.
3. Hellblade 2
Despite discrepancies over what someone might call “gameplay”, Microsoft revealed our first gameplay look at Ninja Theory’s upcoming release. Senua is set to return as an apparent leader this time, and is once again pitted against dark interpretations of Nordic and Celtic fantasy. While other details remain slim, players can expect to be taken on an eerie and atmospheric ride down the depths of the human psyche. Ninja Theory’s exploration into these territories makes it one Xbox game you can’t miss.
2. Elden Ring
Every now and then, a game comes along riding on a wave of incredible hype. Not only does Elden Ring follow in the footsteps of From Software’s Souls series and the monumental fanbase, but the title also touts a collaboration with Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin. Pair this with years of radio silence on the project that led to fan rumors control the narrative, and you have a formula for winner of Most Anticipated Game for two years running.
1. Starfield
It has been a quarter of a century since Elder Scrolls and Fallout developer Bethesda has developed a new IP. With the November release of Starfield this year, gamers will get a brand new gaming experience that has the potential to change this industry as Bethesda has done before. Like many games on this list, the lack of hard gameplay footage may give some players concern. However, the amount of time and talent that is undoubtedly being poured into Starfield should give us comfort. The sheer possibility Starfield makes it the number one Xbox game you can’t miss in the coming year.
