Rad is Everywhere, Don’t Neglect to Protect
There’s a lurking fog that shrouds Far Harbor and much of this is heavily radiated which WILL end you. Lot’s of high-level enemies dwell in the fog and there are many areas riddled with radiation pockets that will make your Geiger counter sing — stock up on Rad-X, Rad-Away and bring some rad resistant armor or a hazmat suit to help protect from all the irradiated zones you’ll enter, unless you want to slowly degrade into a rotting ghoul.
A Little “CHA” Can Go a Long Way
If you’re a schmuck like me and chose to allocate most of your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. attributes to everything other than charisma than you might have a small mountain to climb when it comes to dialogue, there are skill checks up the wazoo and they actually play a role into which direction the story goes. Try choosing some sarcastic responses as well, Far Harbor offers so much hilarious commentary and comic relief that you don’t want to miss. If you’re needing a that extra boost in charisma, stock up on Grape Mentats and Day Tripper before entering the DLC, these will award a hefty boost to charisma for a limited time.
Pick Your Factions Wisely
Before docking into Far Harbor, make sure you side with either Brotherhood of Steel, The Institute or the Railroad, depending on which faction you choose it will determine what ending unlocks. There are also new settlements to be taken over but some of them are restricted based on who your allies are. There are also new factions to join including the Children of Atom and by siding with them unlocks a bunch of quests that reveal a lot more about the mysterious cults motives.
