Become the Naughtiest Bird in Bad Magpie
Indie studio Milktooth has released the first demo for Bad Magpie on Steam and Xbox for PC, giving players an early opportunity to try its quirky narrative adventure. The demo arrives as part of LudoNarraCon, an annual festival celebrating narrative-driven games.
In Bad Magpie, players control a mischievous magpie with one wing and no flock to call home. After being abandoned, the bird sets out on an unusual mission to collect shiny trinkets and win the affection of a fallen star. What follows is a chaotic adventure full of exploration, puzzle-solving, and plenty of opportunities to cause trouble.
The game features a compact, non-linear open world packed with secrets and interactive objects. Players can steal items, combine objects, and experiment with the environment to solve puzzles in creative ways. Its cartoon-inspired logic allows for some unexpected solutions, including breaking glass with a megaphone or starting a fire by pecking at flint.
However, there is more to Bad Magpie than its mischievous antics. A mysterious vision continues to haunt the protagonist, raising questions about its meaning and why it has appeared. As players chase trinkets to impress the fallen star, they will gradually uncover the mystery behind these strange visions.
Bad Magpie is scheduled to launch in 2027 on Steam, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and PC. The game will also be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.
With its unusual premise, playful puzzles, and underlying mystery, Bad Magpie looks like an appealing choice for players who enjoy story-driven adventures with a healthy dose of mischief. The newly released demo offers a chance to see whether this little bird’s strange quest is worth following.
