Onimusha: Way of the Sword Demo Is Also Live
Capcom has officially announced that Onimusha: Way of the Sword will launch on September 25, 2026, during the latest State of Play broadcast. The upcoming action title will arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Windows. Alongside the release date reveal, the company has also rolled out a free playable demo starting today, giving players an early taste of its sword-focused combat.
The newly showcased footage highlights Mount Oe, a dangerous new area located outside Kyoto. This region serves as the stronghold of a massive Genma claiming to be the legendary Shuten Doji. Players step into the role of Miyamoto Musashi, who cuts through enemy forces using enhanced speed and supernatural strength. The trailer builds toward a powerful moment where Musashi fully awakens his Oni abilities, hinting at deeper combat mechanics.
The demo allows players to explore the iconic Kiyomizu-dera Temple and engage in an intense duel against Musashi’s rival, Sasaki Ganryu. As an added incentive, those who try the demo will receive the “Kubi Akari” charm when the game launches.
Pre-orders are now live, offering bonuses such as the “Sealed Curse” sword skin and “Lion Dog” charm. Deluxe and Premium Deluxe Editions include extra cosmetics, character outfits, and a digital soundtrack, expanding the experience beyond the base game.
With its blend of historical settings and supernatural action, Onimusha: Way of the Sword is shaping up to be a strong return for the franchise. The early demo already sets the tone for what could be one of Capcom’s standout releases in 2026.
