Classic Arcade Action Meets AI in HIJURA SCARLET GEAR
HUGA Inc. has announced that HIJURA SCARLET GEAR, a new retro-inspired 2D run-and-gun action game created in collaboration with veteran game creator Zorge Ichizo, will receive a surprise release on Steam on November 5, 2026. The game also features extensive use of AI technology throughout its development, covering everything from artwork and game logic to audio.
Known for his work on SEGAGAGA, Astro Boy: Omega Factor, and Final Re, Zorge Ichizo brings his experience to a project that aims to capture the intensity of classic arcade action while embracing modern development techniques. According to HUGA, AI has played an important role in the creative process, helping expand the developer’s ideas and artistic expression while staying within applicable laws and guidelines.
In HIJURA SCARLET GEAR, players take control of Hijura as she sets out on a dangerous mission to rescue her kidnapped younger sister, Maijura. The game draws inspiration from hardcore action titles of the 1980s and 1990s, featuring detailed pixel-art visuals, a richly developed world, and fast-paced run-and-gun combat.
The developers are also promising a challenging experience that should appeal to longtime fans of classic arcade shooters as well as players looking for something different from modern action games. Those interested can already check out the free demo through the game’s Steam page ahead of its launch.
With its nostalgic arcade-inspired gameplay and an unusual AI-assisted development approach, HIJURA SCARLET GEAR is certainly an interesting release to watch. Retro action fans won’t have to wait long to see what it brings to the table.
