Capcom has unveiled a striking new trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword during the Summer Game Fest 2025 showcase. It offers a deeper look at the dark fantasy world of its upcoming action game. The footage introduces fresh enemies, a dreamlike setting, and new combat mechanics as players step into the role of Miyamoto Musashi, a legendary samurai armed with a mystical Oni Gauntlet.

One of the highlights is the reveal of Sasaki Ganryu, Musashi’s fabled rival, who also wields an Oni Gauntlet. Their intense duel unfolds at Kyoto’s iconic Kiyomizu-dera temple, hinting at a pivotal clash in the storyline. The trailer also teases a range of monstrous Genma foes. This includes the spectral Kubi Akari and the hulking Daidara, whose overwhelming strength poses a deadly challenge in unfamiliar terrain.

The trailer shows a surreal realm filled with floating ruins and ethereal landscapes. Musashi conjures paths midair, offering a glimpse into the game’s imaginative traversal mechanics. Combat remains at the forefront, with fast-paced swordplay enhanced by powerful “Issen” counters and a new twin hammer weapon capable of delivering explosive, ground-shaking strikes.

Adding intrigue, the trailer ends with a fleeting appearance of a mysterious woman who emerges from Musashi’s Oni Gauntlet, suggesting deeper secrets at play.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is coming out in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Meanwhile, fans can revisit the origins of the series through modern remasters of Onimusha: Warlords and Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny, currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.
