Dune: Awakening Is Getting Bigger This Month
Dune: Awakening is receiving another major update as developer Funcom confirms that Update 1.4 and The Water Wars DLC will launch on May 19. The game, inspired by Frank Herbert’s legendary universe and the cinematic adaptation by Denis Villeneuve, continues to evolve following its strong post-launch momentum.

Since its release in June 2025, the survival title has drawn significant attention, peaking at over 189,000 concurrent players on Steam. With more than ten updates already delivered, including story expansions and a reworked endgame in Chapter 3, the upcoming patch focuses on expanding gameplay rather than narrative.
Update 1.4 introduces two new Overland map locations, including a scalable Testing Station designed to challenge players at different levels. Players can explore Wind Pass, home to the Water Shippers operating from a former Harkonnen tech hub, or confront Dr. Jalanta inside the Old Quarry Testing Station. New Landsraad Missions will also be added, further strengthening the Chapter 3 experience.
Alongside the update, The Water Wars DLC brings a fresh set of themed building pieces and cosmetics centered on the Water Shippers, a powerful faction controlling Arrakis’ water trade. This marks the final addition to the game’s Season Pass.
Notably, Update 1.4 does not expand the story, as Funcom shifts focus toward improving player agency and systems based on community feedback, including the recently introduced optional PvP feature.
With steady updates and a clear roadmap ahead, Dune: Awakening continues to grow into a deeper and more player-driven survival experience.
