Fairwind Is Sailing Onto Steam Later This Year

Prepare to Hoist the Anchor in Fairwind

Indie developer WYLDERZONE has officially unveiled its next project, Fairwind, a laid-back co-op sailing experience set to launch on Steam later this year. Known for its earlier action-heavy co-op titles, the studio is now steering in a completely different direction with a game focused on calm exploration and trade.

In FAIRWIND, players take on the role of cargo sailors navigating a colorful ocean world. The core gameplay revolves around harnessing wind power, managing inventory, and building efficient trade routes across distant islands. Instead of danger and combat, the experience leans into relaxation. This allows players to sail alongside friends, upgrade their ships, and steadily grow their trading operations in a peaceful setting.

The game also introduces a unique mix of systems, including tetromino-style inventory management and dynamic weather hazards. These add light strategic depth without overwhelming the player. Ship customization plays a key role as well, giving players the freedom to tailor their vessel to suit different trade routes and conditions.

“We have renounced our old ways,” said Aidan at WYLDERZONE. “We’re kind of done making grumpy man shooty stabby games. Now it is time to follow our real passion – virtual inventory management and archaic logistics simulation.”

With its focus on cooperative play and stress-free progression, Fairwind is shaping up to be a refreshing addition to the genre. Players can wishlist the game now on Steam and keep track of its development as it sails toward release.
