Step Inside the Sci-Fi World of the Expanse: Osiris Reborn
Owlcat Games has officially kicked off the closed beta for The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, giving early supporters their first hands-on experience across Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Access is currently limited to players who picked up the Collector’s Edition or Miller’s Pack. The playtest offers a glimpse into the game ahead of its planned Spring 2027 release.
Set in the well-known universe of The Expanse, the title delivers a story-driven action RPG focused on player choice, companions, and dynamic third-person combat. Players step into the role of a Pinkwater Security mercenary who survives the catastrophic events on Eros. Now, their task is to assemble a crew and confront the dangerous operations of Protogen.
The beta introduces a slice of this narrative, allowing players to choose between a female character from the Belt or a male character from Earth, with specializations in officer or hacker roles. Alongside companions like their sibling J and mechanic Zafar, players explore a remote space station, interact with its inhabitants, and shape outcomes through dialogue decisions. As the story unfolds, threats tied to the Eros incident quickly escalate, pushing players into combat scenarios and upgrade systems.
While the beta offers a limited experience, the full game will expand customization options further. It will also include Mars as a playable background. The beta will remain active until launch, with performance still a work in progress as developers gather feedback.
The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is launching in Spring 2027 on PC and consoles, with wishlisting now open. Overall, the beta marks a promising early step toward a deeper, choice-driven sci-fi RPG experience.
