Prepare to Step Inside a Rural Village in Edo
BujinX has officially revealed the Steam store page for its upcoming exploration-based fantasy horror title, Sister Road Middle Senryo Box: Edo Village Nightmare. Set in Japan’s Edo period, the game presents a third-person 3D adventure that blends traditional culture with eerie supernatural elements.
The experience places players in a rural village filled with thatched-roof houses, capturing the atmosphere and daily life of historical Japan. In a unique move, the developers have chosen not to include full multi-language support in order to preserve the game’s authentic tone. However, players can still follow the narrative through English and Chinese story explanations provided on the store page, while intuitive controls ensure smooth progression.
Players take control of Onene, a young girl who begins to question the existence of her mysterious sister, “Ane-sama.” As the story unfolds, villagers guide her through various trials that double as work experiences. Completing these challenges rewards players with treasures, gradually revealing clues tied to her sister’s identity. What begins as a quiet village journey soon turns into a haunting mystery, with shifting environments and unsettling encounters.
The game introduces three distinct modes. Day Mode focuses on cultural activities such as preparing food and completing tasks with villagers. Night Mode shifts the tone dramatically, as players must evade a mysterious warrior while exploring hidden paths and strange occurrences. Finally, the Sky Labyrinth Mode unlocks after collecting treasures, leading players into a surreal maze and pushing the story toward its climax.
With its mix of folklore, suspense, and cultural immersion, Edo Village Nightmare offers a distinctive horror adventure. More details are expected as the game moves closer to release.
