Survive Your Shift in SeverSoul XOOKEEPER
Indie developer Achary Factory has announced that SeverSoul XOOKEEPER, its upcoming point-and-click horror experience, is officially targeting a release window later this year, with a playable demo set to arrive much sooner.
Blending tense survival mechanics with eerie, cryptid-inspired storytelling, SeverSoul XOOKEEPER draws clear inspiration from titles like Five Nights at Freddy’s and The House, while also channeling the unsettling atmosphere of SCP – Containment Breach and Control. The game places players inside a decaying government facility, where a mysterious catastrophic event and budget cuts have left operations in disarray.
Players step into the role of a demoted “XOOKEEPER,” tasked with managing and containing four dangerous entities over nightly shifts that run from 10 PM to 6 AM. The core gameplay revolves around maintaining anti-psionic batteries, feeding the entities, and pacifying them when they become aggressive. As systems begin to fail, the pressure intensifies, forcing players to carefully balance their tasks to prevent a full-scale containment breach.
If things do go wrong, survival becomes the priority. Players can hide in lockers, vents, and other tight spaces, though staying hidden for too long is not a safe option either. Meanwhile, the facility’s generator must remain operational at all times, adding another layer of tension to each shift.
Featuring a distinct semi-retro, “posterized” art style and largely handcrafted assets and music, SeverSoul XOOKEEPER is set within the broader SeverSoul universe, an animated series that the developer is working on and is shaping up to deliver a haunting indie horror experience later this year.
