Star Birds Is Getting Livelier
Toukana Interactive and Kurzgesagt – In a Nutshell have released the first major content update for Star Birds, titled the “Flora & Fauna” Update, and it is now live on Steam. This update significantly expands the scope of the Early Access city-building and strategy experience, introducing new star systems, alien ecosystems, buildings, and a brand-new free playing mode.
With the “Flora & Fauna” Update, players say goodbye to the icy Ravsicle system and venture into Star System 3, a vibrant and lush region filled with greenery and unfamiliar life. Progression now places a stronger emphasis on advanced star travel, as each star system features unique environmental conditions and requires specific starship construction quests to unlock further exploration.

The update also introduces alien plant life, including the mysterious Volt Shrooms, and allows players to grow and manage their own extraterrestrial flora. A wide selection of new buildings expands colony management options, such as the Bird Diner, Bakery, Bio Lab, and more, adding new layers to production and population satisfaction.
Exploration takes an unexpected turn with the arrival of strange tentacled inhabitants emerging from asteroid craters. Their intentions remain unclear, but players will discover that feeding them well may be the safest way to deal with the unknown.
Finally, the update adds a Basic Level Generator, allowing players to create custom levels in free play mode. By entering Wormholes within each star system, players can generate worlds using adjustable parameters, offering a flexible sandbox experience for those who prefer open-ended gameplay over a campaign-driven structure.
The “Flora & Fauna” Update marks a major step forward for Star Birds as it continues to evolve in Early Access.
