Virtue and a Sledgehammer Will Slam Onto Steam This Year

Confront Your Past in Virtue and a Sledgehammer

Deconstructeam and Selkie Harbour, in partnership with publisher Devolver Digital, have unveiled Virtue and a Sledgehammer, an action-adventure game set to release on Steam later this year. The official reveal trailer offers a first look at the intense and chaotic gameplay players can expect.

In this unusual journey, therapy is optional. You have chosen a sledgehammer instead. Players explore the ruined streets of their hometown, now haunted by android ghosts of digitized neighbors. There is no clear path forward, so it is up to you to create one by smashing through buildings and obstacles that stand in your way.

The game blends visceral action with emotional depth. Combat against mechanical humans and towering structures mirrors a more personal struggle of confronting memories from a childhood that is both warm and traumatic. Virtue and a Sledgehammer is a story about family, tradition, and the experience of being an outsider, reckoning with the past.

The sledgehammer is more than a weapon. It is an instrument of catharsis. Swinging through enemies and the remnants of your past raises a question of whether destruction can truly heal or if it only intensifies lingering pain. Cinematic sequences and interactive storytelling reveal fears, desires, and the tangled virtues and flaws within a family’s history.

Beneath the chaos lies a meditation on life, pain, and self-discovery. By tearing down the physical and emotional ruins of your upbringing, the game explores what it means to face suffering and search for happiness beyond memory, expectation, and flesh.
