Manage the Train in Fogpiercer
Hooded Horse has announced another addition to its growing lineup of acclaimed strategy and tactics titles. Fogpiercer, developed by Slovakia-based Mad Cookies Studio, is a post-apocalyptic roguelike deckbuilder. In this game, survival depends on managing a train under constant threat from bandits, deadly fog, and even overzealous train enthusiasts. It will launch in early access in 2026, and the team even showcased a fresh gameplay trailer during the Convergence showcase.
In Fogpiercer’s unforgiving world, the train itself functions as the player’s deck. Each carriage carries a unique set of cards. As players progress, they can expand their arsenal through upgrades and additional carriages. Battles unfold on a square grid, with the train positioned at the center. Strategy and timing are essential: choosing the right cards can turn enemies against one another, push them into danger, or even knock them onto the tracks to be crushed under the train’s wheels. A variety of weapons and abilities gained from different carriage configurations ensures flexible tactics for overcoming each encounter.
The journey through Fogpiercer’s branching world map will test every decision. Stopping at stations to heal or purchase upgrades can make the difference between success and disaster. Even failure contributes to long-term progress, thanks to a roguelite meta layer offering unlocks and enhancements for future runs.
With its unique blend of deckbuilding strategy, grid-based combat, and high-stakes decision-making, Fogpiercer promises a fresh take on the genre. Hooded Horse’s partnership with Mad Cookies Studio signals another ambitious entry in its portfolio, offering players an intense and replayable experience when it arrives in early access.
