An All-Out War Awaits in the Heart of the Machine
Heart of the Machine just got bigger. Hooded Horse and Arcen Games have released Kinship, the first DLC for their acclaimed strategy RPG. The expansion is available now on PC, bringing new quests, branching storylines, and three additional endings to its dystopian cyberpunk world.
Players once again take control of the first-ever sentient AI. But this time, it’s not just about reshaping the city. Kinship puts relationships, communities, and the meaning of belonging under the spotlight.
The expansion introduces several new storylines. Players can uplift new creatures and earn their trust, mend divisions between human religious sects and their off-world counterparts, and uncover how family ties shape the criminal underworld. Every choice can open new possibilities, making the city’s future even harder to predict.
There’s plenty beyond the new stories, too. Kinship adds hours of quests, branching side narratives, unique structures, unlockable equipment, and fresh enemies. The expansion covers every phase of the game, giving returning players more reasons to experiment with different strategies.
Want to turn the city into a sprawling forest? Go for it. Prefer an all-out gang war? That’s an option, too. You can even build a giant spider mech to block out the sun. Just don’t ignore the communities caught in the middle. Their changing relationships could turn your carefully laid plans upside down.
Heart of the Machine – Kinship is out now on Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store for $14.99. A 10% launch discount runs until October 26. A separate supporter pack featuring the soundtrack and wallpapers is also available.
With new endings to discover and more choices to make, Kinship gives players another chance to prove that even a machine can struggle to understand humanity.
