Explore the Ocean in Whiskerwood
Whiskerwood is setting sail with its latest major update, as Hooded Horse and Minakata Dynamics have introduced the Nautical Update for the cat-and-mouse city-building game. The new update expands the experience beyond the city, allowing players to build ships, explore the ocean, and discover resources. They will even get to meet new trading partners and take on fresh quests.
The adventure begins after players encounter a disgruntled whisker living in a converted lifeboat. From there, a new questline unlocks larger and more capable ships, opening up new options for logistics and exploration through Whiskerwood’s expanded world map.
Every ship needs a crew and enough supplies to survive its journey. Players can assign vessels to new dock buildings based on their purpose, whether that means exploring, transporting goods, trading with distant NPC outposts, or heading into combat. The seas also come with plenty of danger, including pirates that can threaten your fleet. Players can deploy escorts to protect their ships or gather powerful flotillas to take on pirate strongholds.
The new world map uses a grid-based exploration system. Here, players will be able to uncover pirate bases, whisker colonies, and valuable resources. And yes, that includes Guano, which can provide an apparently endless supply of fertilizer for your growing city.
The Nautical Update adds another interesting layer to Whiskerwood’s early access journey. If you enjoy managing cities and cats with questionable attitudes, there is now a whole ocean waiting to be explored.
Whiskerwood is currently available in early access on PC for $29.99 / £24.99 / €29.99 / ¥2,980, with a 50% discount running for the next two weeks.
