Project S.U.N.D.I.A.L. Opens Its Closed Beta for a Gritty 2D Extraction Shooter

Enter the Unforgiving World of Project S.U.N.D.I.A.L.

Ice Quake Studios has officially opened the closed beta for Project S.U.N.D.I.A.L., a 2D pixel art extraction shooter inspired by S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Escape from Tarkov. The game invites players to explore a dangerous post-apocalyptic world where scavenging for supplies, completing contracts, and escaping with valuable loot are essential to survival.

The current closed beta focuses on single-player gameplay, while the developers plan to introduce online multiplayer testing at a later stage. Project S.U.N.D.I.A.L. is being developed with both solo and online PvPvE experiences in mind, allowing players to face hostile enemies and other threats throughout their expeditions.

Survival goes beyond simply collecting equipment. Players must manage their resources, upgrade their hideout, and prepare for increasingly dangerous trips into the wasteland. The game also features an extensive weapon assembly system, letting players construct and customise firearms using individual components.

The world features six regions with semi-procedural layouts and dynamic events, offering different challenges during each expedition. Players will encounter bandits, raiders, and mutated creatures known as Hollows while completing quests and searching for valuable resources.

Project S.U.N.D.I.A.L. also introduces a body-part injury system that requires players to seek medical treatment when wounded. Combined with gear loss upon death and survivor management, these mechanics add another layer of risk to every expedition.

With its blend of pixel art, tactical combat, and high-risk extraction gameplay, Project S.U.N.D.I.A.L. could appeal to fans of challenging survival shooters. The upcoming multiplayer tests should also provide a better idea of how its PvPvE experience will develop.
