Begin Your Roadside Research
It’s time to become undercover aliens! Developer Cybernetic Walrus and publisher Oro Interactive have released the free public demo of Roadside Research, their co-op gas station simulator with an alien twist. After amassing 200,000 wishlists and more than 10 million social media views, the game finally invites players to step behind the counter while secretly preparing for an invasion. A new teaser accompanies the demo’s launch on Steam today, giving a first taste of this unusual blend of chaos and strategy. Check it out right below.
Roadside Research puts one to four players in charge of a gas station. But, there is more than just customer service at stake here. You and your friends are aliens in disguise, undercover on Earth to gather intel for an upcoming invasion. While refueling cars, mopping spills, and stocking snacks, you must blend in with humans and avoid drawing suspicion. Behind the scenes, players must upgrade the alien research station as well, making every shift a balancing act between running a successful business and advancing extraterrestrial plans.
The demo offers the full flavor of its co-operative mayhem. Players can jump in solo or with friends, managing both the visible gas station and the hidden alien base. Shop layouts are customizable, letting you rearrange shelves and equipment to create an efficient store or the perfect cover for alien activity. Every decision matters: keep your disguise intact, keep suspicion low, and avoid government agents who are always watching.
With its mix of workplace simulation and undercover mischief, Roadside Research promises a unique experience for fans of quirky co-op games. The full release is planned for later this year, but Steam users can already start their secret mission by downloading the free demo and stepping into their alien cover shift today.
